hi, I am Iris Du

As a mum with a young family, author, business owner and proud resident of the City of Melton, I'm an independent candidate with no political affiliations, bringing a fresh perspective to Council.

Since moving here solo as a 15-year-old in 2000, I've learnt the value of sacrifice, hard work, and creating a safe, thriving environment for families.

My partner and I chose Caroline Springs for its strong sense of community and family values. I've loved creating the mums' lake walk and other local groups that bring families together. I'm also a proud member of the Lions Club.

With 79 families moving into the City of Melton each week, it's vital that our infrastructure keeps pace.

I will push for improved roads, public transport, and recreational spaces, as well as support local and family-owned businesses to strengthen our economy.

I will advocate to the State and Federal Governments to meet our healthcare needs, create safer communities with increased police presence and youth programs.

Our community is growing rapidly, with 79 families and 64 babies joining us each week. The community deserves infrastructure that keeps pace with our needs. I will push for improved roads, public transport, recreational facilities and targeted services that support residents including families, youth, seniors, locally owned and family businesses and employment initiatives.

Every family deserves the support to grow and prosper, and I will adovcate to be your voice. I also support creating more local events that bring families together and initiatives that help parents balance work and family life effectively.

Safety is paramount to our community and every resident deserves to feel safe in their home and neighbourhood.

I will advocate for increased police presence and enhanced public lighting to deter crime and improve security. Community safety programs including youth engagement initiatives to address rising crime rates. This will empower residents to take an active role in keeping our neighbourhoods safe.

Safe access to community resources and spaces is essential, and I will work tirelessly to build a community where everyone feels secure.

By enhancing these safety measures, we can create a community where everyone, from children playing in parks to seniors enjoying evening walks, feels protected and supported.

Access to quality healthcare and supporting mental health initiatives is crucial. I fully support the development of Melton Hospital and will work closely with the council and state government to ensure it meets our community’s needs.

I advocate for making council resources more accessible to all residents and a council that takes accountability and responds to residents’ needs to ensure best value for ratepayers.

A healthy community is a happy community, and I am dedicated to ensuring that all residents have the opportunity to lead fulfilling lives.
